The Mini-THON Outreach Committee throws up the diamonds at Middlesex Elementary's Mini-Mini THON

The Mini-THON program stretches throughout all schools in the district's elementary schools.

The students at each elementary school do fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the cause; all profits going towards the grand total that is revealed during the day of Mini-Mini Thon.

Students who participate in the high school's Mini-THON Outreach Committee travel to the elementary schools and take the students through a day of fun.

“We typically get to the elementary schools around 8:00-8:30 (AM)...and we typically leave at 4:00-4:15,” Outreach chair Noah Brown said.

Brown said that the high schoolers set up and go through 7-8 different stations for the elementary students, taking a lunch break at the halfway point. They then reveal the school's grand total of money raised, clean up, and leave the school.

“Interactions between the elementary kids and the high schoolers definitely vary by grade. The younger kids are typically more in awe of the high schoolers. They view us as celebrities, which is pretty amazing” Brown said.

The Outreach committee is made up of seniors who participate in the high schools Mini-THON, all of which chose that committee because they enjoy working with kids.

“We all feel pretty tired after each of the mini-minis. Its a lot of work and it definitely wears you out over the course of the day. With that said, you always feel really good knowing that you were able to make a difference in both the elementary kids lives and in the lives of the kids battling Cancer,” Brown said.

The High School Mini-THON program works very hard to make each Mini-Mini THON as successful as possible. It is an amazing opprotunity that Cumberland Valley offers the elementary school students to have fun and also learn about an amazing cause.
