As homecoming comes to a close, there are many events to look forward to in the CV community. Student Council meetings have begun to involve an array of fall and winter activities and Mini-THON is hosting various fundraising events.

Currently, the Student Council is working on announcements for fall festivities that will occur during the next two weeks. Information will come to NEST rooms within a few days. The door-decorating contest will be held until the 30th. During NEST, classrooms will cover their door in fall related decorations. Dunkin’ Donuts will go to the top five best-decorated doors. NEST rooms will also be passing along a “Boo!” which is a little piece of paper. Rooms are encouraged to gift the “Boo!” to another classroom and give a small gift to go along with it.

Additionally, Halloween dress up day will occur on October 31st. Students are encouraged to wear their costumes to school, as long as they are within reason, of course. Competition during lunch periods will occur, and the person with the best costume will win a bag of candy.

Students can also look forward to similar activities that will happen closer to winter brea. Student Council has begun brainstorming ideas for more door-decorating, spirit days, and even a winter themed pep-rally.

Junior and Senior Class Officers have also finalized plans for this year's Powder Puff game. On November 21, 2023 the Senior girls will face the Junior girls in a game of flag football. Each grade also has a cheer team made of boys from that grade. Entry to spectate this event will be through any donation of cash or canned goods, benefiting struggling families in preparation for the holidays. As of now, teams are selected and practices will begin in the coming weeks.

More fundraisers involving Mini-THON are also on the horizon. All committee members have begun setting up Donor Drives, their way of receiving direct donations from others. Meetings are being held for the remainder of this week. Committee members should attend with their DonorDrives set up, a list of five addresses, a confirmation email, and a book of 20 stamps.

Canning for Mini-THON is another big way the organization brings in donations. You can keep an eye out for canners at all of the home football games and starting this weekend, throughout the Cumberland Valley area. Cash donations go directly to Mini-THON.

The Turkey Trot 5k benefiting CV Mini-THON will take place on Saturday, November 18th. The race starts at 9 a.m. and will be held at Mountain View Middle School. The registration fee is $25 and those who wish to participate must sign up by the morning of. Those who sign up before November 4th will receive a free Mini-THON t-shirt.
