The 2024 Cumberland Valley boys lacrosse captains Nate Campisi, Mason Wickerham, Cristian Gensbigler, and Brady Gilbert gave their input on how the season will go.

WIth the season just starting Wickerham said,“I'm looking forward to competing for the Mid Penn championship and just having fun this year. I would like to see us keep our heads up more in tough situations and push through.”

With the 2023 seniors graduating Campisi said, “The hardest part about losing the 2023 seniors would be how many seniors left and how little seniors we have this year. Our depth is not the deepest, but at the same time the loss of those seniors will help build up a whole new team. Without the 2023 seniors we are a much closer team, with each other, who are all willing to put the work in for success this year. Campisi added that, “Obviously our main competition will be Trinity. Some other teams that will definitely compete with us will State College and Carlisle.”

Wickerham expressed his view on losing the 2023 seniors. “We have a good amount of young kids on varsity this year that are stepping up to the plate and really taking on the roles of players we lost.”

With the loss of the seniors they seem to be pretty confident in the underclassmen and are presumed to have a good season.

Brady Gilbert is looking forward to a few things this year including, “making memories with the team.” He would like more positivity and team bonding this year by building the guys up with encouragement. He acknowledged that they have lost some skills with the outgoing 2023 class, but the team camaraderie seems stronger than last year. He thinks this year’s biggest competition will be Hempfield, Trinity, Susquehannock, State College, and Carlisle

The captains all seem to share the same view about the loss of skill with the outgoing 2023 class, the number of younger players working to fill the shoes of last year’s players, the desire to encourage players and the goal to beat Trinity.
